Nicodemus of the Holy Mountain
(c. 1749–1809)
   Saint and Devotional Writer.
   Nicodemus was born on the Greek island of Naxos and he joined the monastic community on Mount Athos. He is remembered for his Philocalia, a collection of mystical writings connected with Hesychasm. He compiled this in conjunction with St Macarius Notares. He also produced the Pidalion, a commentary on the Canon Law of the Orthodox Church, and he published a Greek edition of ignatius loyola’s Spiritual Exercises. He is regarded as a saint in the Eastern Church.
